Orpheo is a unique, soulful niche in the realm of boutique jewellery. Our world revolves around a passion for design, beauty and living life with flair. Our founders were born in Barcelona, trained and worked in Switzerland and then spent years crafting the Orpheo model in South Africa, the Twins taught us how to be unique, how to be bold and how to always be different to everyone else.Our work is Latino-African passion delivered with Swiss precision. We design jewellery that makes a bold statement. Our work is always different, original and daring – and we challenge our clientele to be the same. Orpheo jewellery has the rare quality of being totally distinctive. Anyone who knows us will instantly recognise an Orpheo piece worn by a fellow convert. There is no need for big logos. Our jewellery speaks our name through the language of our design. My father Gilbert Torres founder and visionary taught me everything about the industry, how to know the rules and how to bend them. I have been working in Orpheo for over 10 years and since the day I sat down in the workshop and placed my hands on the bench my heart was full , from making pieces that are never the same , and making pieces that are bold and speak volumes to people’s personalities. I personally love connecting with people and understanding there ideas and creating pieces that represents there individuality.

Dijon Torres
Started from the bottom in learning the trade under the watchful eye of my dad Gilbert Torres, the man that revolutionized the jewellery trade and Craig Smith whom taught me the fundamentals of creating pieces, the moment I sat down on the wooden seat of the Jewellers bench at Orpheo’s workshop I knew I was home, ever since that day I have been taught how to create and understand clients personal needs, so they can be showcased in each piece we
hand-craft, my dad Gilbert Torres showed me the way to interact with clients and be the face that people will recognize, he taught me to be different and always stand out from the crowd. No big names, just goldsmiths that have learnt how to always be different and to always let the pieces speak.

For nearly a quarter of a century I’ve been refining my craft of goldsmithing under the tutelage of Gilberto Torres a goldsmith the fellow Catalan Antoni Gaudi would be proud of if not amazed by, I strive to produce each piece to the high standards of quality of those who came before me did, functional Art each piece speaks for itself.
FOUNDER
Gilbert Torres
Spanish born Gilbert Torres was the founder and artist that took jewellery concepts to a whole new level. at the age of 21 he moved to South Africa (Johannesburg) after completing his degree in Switzerland, from there he worked his way up in the jewellery trade to become one of the most influential beings in the industry. He had a vision and he wanted to unleash it to the world, he worked hard to achieve and create his own store with his exclusive pieces. The first studio was in Norwood with the bold Orpheo sign. That’s where the name was born and this is where our pieces started to evolve. After that his work was recognized all over the world, he got offered to open up his unique shop in Hyde Park shopping Centre. Like his unique jewellery, the innovative and creative storefront of his brushed stainless-steel shop made a big impact at the time. It was difficult to walk past those bright and bold unique displays that made customers feel compelled to find out more. He spent 23 years + crafting and moulding the brand, from unique artistic window displays to breathtaking jewellery.
Later in the years his identical twin brother Jorge came over from Switzerland to join forces with his brother. Jorge is one of the most renowned setters in the world with an artistic mind just like his brother. Together they revolutionized the jewellery trade and set new standards. From there Orpheo Twins was born into the world. A brand that build a world class product from doing hand sketches to handcrafting pieces that showcased people’s individuality. The Twins were identical but at the same time unique and different to each other -just like each human being out there. Every piece of Orpheo jewellery carries that spirit within. It could lookalike but at the same time be very different. All the creativity, the mediterranean flair, the swiss precision and the African culture will reflect in your unique Orpheo piece of art.
